As we all become more and more conscious and sensitive on global subjects such as climate change and social welfare, we want our actions to reflect our commitment to actively participate in their remediation and improvement. What greater thing then when vacationing feeling that we are somehow, at the same time actively participating in both? We firmly believe that being eco-responsible and contributing to improving social welfare are essential to boosting our humanity. Our in-house Jute Slippers are just an example of how we can contribute to both:

• On the one hand, these Jute Slippers are handmade by more than a dozen women from three teams in three rural communities in need from Pakistan. The tailoring, stitching, and finishing tasks are done locally. Some are married contributing to the house power, and many are the sole providers for the household. One of the teams is composed mainly of women from Afghanistan that took refuge in Pakistan.
  This program creates the opportunity for empowering these women as they become an essential part of the household workforce. It gives them an added purpose and a greater sense of self- worth. Their positive feedback gives us the encouragement to continue and pursue new initiatives.

• On the other hand, our Jute slippers are 100% eco-friendly. Two basic 100% recyclable and biodegradable materials are used in their making, (1) cardboard, providing the backbone and shape of the jute sleeper and (2) jute fabric made with fibers from Corchorus olitorius, a plant believed to be of indo-Pakistani origins.

We firmly believe that by supporting the Jute Sleeper initiative, we are championing social welfare thru enabling women to be an active and vital part of the community’s workforce and growth, as well as providing for a better future for new generations to come. The use of 100% eco-friendly materials in their production, adds to its magic while also protecting our environment.

We believe that being eco-responsible and contributing to improving social welfare is essential to boosting our humanity.
